Medusa is in the house

Our 5.8% Black IPA is up and about, ready for consumption.

Pours a deep black with Ruby highlights and a lightly tanned tight foam. With layers of mollases, underlying caramel, hints of leather, liquorice and coffee.
Drys out clean and bitter (from malt (acidity) and hops) and goes looooong.

Dry hops don’t play much of a role in this unit but are certainly in the mix.

Drop in during the afternoons for a Growler or Squealer fill.

The Greek Fella's

The Greek Fella’s are coming to Helios on Friday and Saturday night (22nd and 23rd Dec).

The food looks amazing. Costa from the Greek Fella’s says ‘they aim to offer an authentic Greek taste, made with quality ingredients’.

Chef on the Road will be coming to Helios this Thursday 21st December.

The menu includes a Jamaican pepper pot, smoked pork belly and spicy fries. That’s enough to make anyone beer-thirsty!

Opening Hours

We will be open for Growler (1.89 litres) or Squealer (950 ml) purchases and re-fills during the week Monday - Friday between 1:00 - 4:00pm, and during normal bar serving hours.

Our bar will be open Thursday - Saturday from 4:00 - 9:00 pm.

In case you are not quite sure what a Growler or Squealer are, here is a photo. You get to choose your bottle ($15 for the large Growler size; and $10 for the small Squealer size), then choose any of the Helios beers on tap for a re-fill (prices vary, but most beers are $24 for the Growler, and $14 for the Squealer fill). Then you get to take it home/to a party/a friends house/etc, drink it up and then come back for a re-fill, again, and again, and again!

Opening Friday 15th December!

Head over to Helios Brewing at the corner of Palomar Street and Varley Road for our grand opening night this Friday 15th December. We will be open from 4pm - 9pm and there will be plenty of beer for you to drink. If you can’t make it on Friday, we will also be open on Saturday the 16th. We have been busy brewing to bring you up to 6 different craft beers this weekend, with more in the tanks for the following weeks.

From next week (Thursday 21st December), our bar will open 4-9 pm Thursday, Friday and Saturdays. But you will be able to have your growlers filled from 1-4 pm Monday to Friday and during serving hours.

The brewery uses a theme of Gods and Monsters from Greek mythology. Our current beers include the Midas' Golden Ale, Poseidon Pale Ale, Hades' Bitter Chocolate Stout, New World Lager and the Medusa Black IPA. Soon to be brewed beers include: The Goddess Red Rye, Athena Scotch Ale and Zeus' Double IPA.

"So when are you going to open?"

The most asked question lately is, “So when are you going to open?”

Yes, we know you are keen to get in here and check it out. And trust me, we have been trying hard to pull it all together to open as quick as we can.

The short answer is, hopefully the Friday 15th of December or Saturday 16th of December! We say ‘hopefully’ because we want to have most of our range ready to drink. Charlie has been brewing away trying to punch it all out. At this stage we will have Poseidon Pale Ale, Midas Golden Ale, Hades Bitter Chocolate Stout and a special edition Kolsch.

Our usual opening hours will be Thursday, Friday and Saturday 4pm - 9pm.

We will formally announce the opening day soon.
